This is one feature that separates Google Finance from all others. The price charts are very quick providing data for even 10 years (or more). These can be used to compare the prices of your favourite stocks with other stocks or even with the various Sensex. The carts also show the Dividends, splits, bonuses and other announcements in the timeline.
It is my belief that nearly any invented quotation, played with confidence, stands a good chance to deceive.

[The perfect amount of money to leave children is] enough money so that they would feel they could do anything, but not so much that they could do nothing.
Long ago, Sir Isaac Newton gave us three laws of motion, which were the work of genius. But Sir Isaac’s talents didn’t extend to investing: He lost a bundle in the South Sea Bubble, explaining later, ‘I can calculate the movement of the stars, but not the madness of men.’ If he had not been traumatized by this loss, Sir Isaac might well have gone on to discover the Fourth Law of Motion: For investors as a whole, returns decrease as motion increases.
Wall Street is the only place that people ride to work in a Rolls Royce to get advice from those who take the subway.
You only have to do a very few things right in your life so long as you don’t do too many things wrong.
Of the billionaires I have known, money just brings out the basic traits in them. If they were jerks before they had money, they are simply jerks with a billion dollars.

Keeping liquidity and not investing in such a low market is like saving up for sex in your old age.
I will tell you how to become rich. Close the doors. Be fearful when others are greedy. Be greedy when others are fearful.
How can Twitter help me with Indian stock markets ?
Twitter is micro blogging. Thus it is the views of the people YOU like to follow. The people tweet what they believe or like, not what they are paid for. Thus it is different from talks on the TV shows which are often biased and don’t cover everyone who matters.

Excel is one tool which we all have used more times than the calculators itself. Then why not get all the data of the companies on an excel sheet ? Awesome BSEXL is an attempt towards that.
Awesome BSEXL is not any hard-to-understand software, but just an excel workbook with the data of currently 1500 BSE listed companies on one sheet. It is like the regular columns found in the newspapers or the Capital Market magazine. However, we have tried to include many other details into it, including following:
Script Code and Script Name
Last Trade Price
Discount (Book Value – LTP)
Sales of last four quarters
Profits of last four quarters
Sales of past three years
Profits of past three years
Using excel filters and advanced filters, you can create queries as you like and make the reverse processing possible (search companies which perform as YOU want them to perform).
Holds investments worth Rs. 224.00 Cr as on 11th May, 2009 while it’s own market cap is just Rs. 28.50 Cr. The company is debt free.(Annexure 1)
Compared to other investment/holding companies, CHI is available at just 1/10th of the value of investments it holds while others trade at about 1/4th of the value of investments they hold. (Annexure 2)
The company majorly holds shares of CESC & KEC International, the stock should move at least linearly to the stock price movements of both the stocks and with better stock discovery, the discounting can reduce giving it a multi-bagger potential. Being in power sector and leaders in their business areas, both CESC & KEC International are expected to do well. (Read the latest Business Line : KEC targets to be a $ 2 billion company in 3-4 yrs.)
CHI Investment receives almost 4-5 Cr as dividend/interest income annually.

Once upon a time in a village, a man appeared and announced to the villagers that he would buy monkeys for Rs10. The villagers seeing that there were many monkeys around, went out to the forest and started catching them.
The man bought thousands at Rs10 and as supply started to diminish, the villagers stopped their effort. He further announced that he would now buy at Rs20. This renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started catching monkeys again.Soon the supply diminished even further and people started going back to their farms.
The offer rate increased to Rs25 and the supply of monkeys became so little that it was an effort to even see a monkey, let alone catch it! The man now announced that he would buy monkeys at Rs50!
However, since he had to go to the city on some business, his assistant would now buy on behalf of him. In the absence of the man, the assistant told the villagers, "Look at all these monkeys in the big cage that the man has collected. I will sell them to you at Rs35 and when the man returns from the city, you can sell it to him for Rs50."
The villagers squeezed up with all their savings and bought all the monkeys. Then they never saw the man nor his assistant, only monkeys everywhere!!!

BSE India and other sites including Money Control, all provide the financial data of maximum 5 years. So what to do if you want the data of more than 5 years ? Economic Times provides the solution.
Economic Times uses multiple databases and provides the financial data even for more than ten years. The comparative data however only for the P&L Account and Balance Sheet. Same feature is not available for Quarterly results.
Also, I wish if they had a feature to export this data into excel automatically. Apart from this, the service is quite useful, flexible and easy.
Do share other sites (if any) that provide the long historical financial data for free in comments.
Reading about the successful investors, managers, entrepreneurs and others gives not only the inspiration but also new ideas. We are an ardent reader of the esteem daily – “Mint.” The “Business Lounge” section interviews a successful Indian business person every Saturday. The interviews are written in a very unorthodox style and worth waiting for every weekend.
Below is the collection of 10 interviews which we often like to re-read. (Click on the images or download PDF articles to read the complete interviews.)
