Three cheers for Shilpa Medicare

celebration

Shilpa Medicare has made a new high at 345 today. We had initially discussed the stock on our blog here on 26th July, 2009 when the price was Rs 80. Hence the stock has given a gain of 331% in less than 1 year :). The stock is now a 10 bagger from March lows.

The stock has been witnessing a lot of fund action, Reliance Capital has bought 4.50 lac shares yesterday @ 285. Earlier ICICI Prudential had bought 9 lac shares.

The interest in the stock is logical due to the fantastic financial performance of the company and the bright prospects ahead. The Oncology business will remain to be the fastest growing segment for next 4-5 years and Shilpa is the largest standalone (not for captive use) Oncology API manufacturer in India. The company targets to be a 500 Cr turnover company in next 2 years.

Such successes are possible only due to active participation, discussion and feedback of our readers, investors and friends. Look forward to you support and views.

Regards,

  1. Hi Ayush,

I have been holding Shilpa for the past 3 years. This was the stock which was hardly discussed. I came to know about your blog, because of Google alert on Shilpa Medicare. I have been offloading this stock from 250 levels. With so much of action happening in this stock now, I am bit confused to hold or to keep selling. Please advice. Knowing Vishnu Kantji Bhutada, he is very ethical person and is very conservative in projecting company’s future prospects.

I have invested in Vipul Ltd which was recommended on this blog, I have been searching for information about this stock, but most of the data available on the net is outdated. If you have any updates, please share.

If possible please have a look at “Cords Cable”. Nirmal Bang used to cover this stock a year back.

    Thanks & Regards,
    MM

  3. Dear MM,

Its nice to know that you have been a long shareholder of Shilpa Medicare. Infact we have been tracking this stock since 2005 (had exited in between).

Though the upmove has been sharp and valuations being rich now but the long term story remains intact and strong. Yes, Mr. Vishnu seems to be a very ethical and highly capable person. Under his guidance, Shilpa could very well be a mid sized pharma company down 3- 5 years.

So I have been doing partial profit booking only. Intent to keep decent qty for long term until n unless something negative comes up or valuations become very stretchy.

Vipul seems to be a decent Real Estate player with good land bank in NCR. The story might take its own time to unfold – till the real estate sector comes back to boom.

Please tell more about yourself and stock ideas you like.

    Thanks & Regards,

  9. Ya its been a long time, haven’t been devoting much time to investing lately and work has also increased. I read all ur posts but then failed to analyze further and take a position, am hardly buying anything since the market has risen so much. However plan to get back soon and will be discussing stocks with you, also planning to start a blog to document my thought process and ideas.
